Next series of IVF Posts...

1/25/11

So finally, 16 days into Lupron I started my cycle yesterday. This morning was my first ultrasound and blood test. They wanted to make sure I had no ovarian cyst before we started the stimulating shots. Everything seemed to look good and we are scheduled to start Thursday night. Now, it is going to be about 1 month until we find out if we are pregnant- very exciting and very scary!! I so hope it works.

So today is considered day 7 of IVF and I must say, I am really starting to feel all of the effects of the drugs. My face is breaking out worse than it ever has. I feel tired, dizzy, bloated and just awful! Last night was the best I have slept in a while and I still woke up 2 times. My day 4 blood work showed estradiol level of 48 which was kind of low, but by day 6 it finally started going up. It was 163 and I have 5 good follicles so far. This is still a bit low, but I am hoping by tomorrow results we will see another big increase. It is sooo exciting and so nerve wrecking now that we are getting so close. This time next week they will be doing the retrieval, then about 2 weeks after that we will know if we are going to be parents!!

Exciting morning, ultrasound showed 13 follies all over 1 cm, up from just 5 on Tuesday..so finally feeling like I am responding. YAY! It is getting so close and I am so uncomfortable as time goes on, but so anxious too! Hopefully blood work will come back with higher estradiol this afternoon and things keep improving from here. Fingers crossed!

So Saturday the nurse called and said do your trigger shot tonight at 8:00 pm. Wow! We thought we were going to have to wait another day or so, so we were a little surprised and excited. I had 22 follies over 1cm and my estradiol was 1520. YAY! That night we took the trigger shot and can you say OUCH! My back is still sore! Yesterday was our retrieval surgery. We got to the hospital at 6:30 am and left around 9:30. They got 20 eggs. Other than pain in my lower abdomen I am feeling ok, just really heavy and tired and sore. The nurse called this morning and informed us that 12 of the 20 eggs were mature and 10 of them have fertilized. I was hoping for more, but the nurse said this is a good number. They won’t look at them again until Thursday, so we aren’t sure yet if we will do a day 3 or a day 5 transfer, but I am just hoping and praying everything continues to stay on track. These next 15 days are going to be soooo hard.
