My husband and I moved pretty fast. We started dating, became exclusive, moved in together and got engaged within 10 months, but after about 3.5 I already knew he was the one.
When we met I had been going through gastrointestinal issues (stomach) for several years and was to a bad point. Through a series of referrals and after several tests and failed medications I was referred to an amazing surgeon who said "we can either remove your colon or keep trying new medications as they come on the market". Basically, my colon was not working...so after soul searching I decided to go through with this very risky surgery that is comparable to open heart surgery and could leave me with life changing results like having to empty a bag when I go to the bathroom.
On December 8th, 2008 I had my entire large intestines removed and spent a week in the hospital. After only 3 months of dating, Allan spent day and night by my side. Seeing me puke all over myself, poop all over (yes that happened), smelly and gross he stood by my side and encouraged me through the lengthy recovery. He helped me push blood clots through the incisions in my stomach and was there through all of it. This is when I knew what an amazing man God had brought into my life and that I wanted to spend forever with him.
